Maintaining your pool screen enclosure is essential to ensure that it is functioning properly.

If you need to repair or replace some of the panels, keep in mind that Pool Cage Rescreening or Pool Screen Repair can be a challenging task, especially if you must access the top ones.

Walking along the narrow frame of the cage can be dangerous and may require specific skills and experience. If you are not confident about doing it yourself, it is advisable to seek assistance from a professional screening company.

This way, you can ensure the job is done correctly and safely, giving you peace of mind knowing that your pool screen enclosure is adequately fixed.

Whether you need to re-screen the necessary panels or completely replace them, a screening company can provide you with the expertise and assistance that you need.

1. To remove the old screening, take out the spline that holds it in place. Then, use the end of a flat-blade screwdriver to lift one corner of the panel and remove the spline.

2. Use pliers to pull the spline out of the groove by grasping its end.

3. Repeat the first two steps to release the other sides of the panel.

4. To remove the loose screen from the frame, start by removing the spline. Then, press on one corner of the screen panel to break it free and pull out the remaining section by grabbing the loose corner.

5. To prepare the spline channel, use a stiff-bristle nylon brush to remove any debris. Gently scrub back and forth until the channel is clean. When replacing the old screen with a new one, be aware that small pieces of the old screen, dirt, or other debris may remain in the spline channel, which can prevent proper insertion of the new spline.

6. To get the correct measurements, use a tape measure to determine the distance between the outside edges of the spline channels on opposite sides of the panel opening. When cutting, add at least two inches to both the length and width to provide room for slippage during installation.

7. To cut the panel to size, first, roll out the screen cloth on a flat surface. Then, place a piece of scrap lumber under your cut line. After that, use a utility knife along with a straightedge as a cutting guide. The piece should be cut smoothly without any interruption. To protect the knife blade, put scrap lumber underneath. Similarly, keeping the straightedge above the screen cloth will keep the cut in a straight line and prevent the screen cloth from bunching up if the knife blade gets caught.

8. To cover the opening, place the screen over it and ensure that there is at least one inch of extra material on all sides of the frame. If you have someone to assist you, they should hold the opposite side of the screen that you plan to attach first.

9. To attach the panel with the spline, make sure to unroll enough spline to cover at least two of its sides. If you are working with a vertical or slanted surface, begin at the top edge. On a horizontal surface, you can start from any point as long as you can reach the last two spline locations after attaching the first two.

10. Press the end of the spline into the corner of the channel closest to you using your finger.

11. Insert the roller’s end into the spline channel and apply force while rolling it towards the other end of the channel. Maintain the screen straight while rolling, and keep it lightly stretched in the direction you’re working in.

12. To cut the spline without damaging the screen, use a utility knife and trim it as closely as possible to the end of the channel.

13. Place the end of the spline into the corner of the channel that is closest to the recently completed edge.

14-Please follow Steps 11 and 12 again to attach the second edge.

15. To check if the screen is warped or folded, go to the corner that is diagonally opposite to the one with two edges secured. Gently pull the screen towards the opening to flatten it like a drumhead. Make sure it is lying flat against all four surfaces. If it’s not, remove the spline on the uneven side, fix it, and put it back. If you have assistance, have them apply slight tension on the corner while you straighten out any irregularities.

16. To clarify, gently push the spline into the corner of the channel that is closest to the side that was finished second. While doing so, make sure to hold the bottom edge of the screen and pull it down gently with light pressure.

18. To attach the spline, please repeat Steps 11 and 12.

19. As previously described, maintain a slight amount of tension on the last edge and then proceed with installing the spline.

20. Use a utility knife to cut along the outer edge of the spline channel to remove excess screen material. Be careful not to cut the spline.
