Modern pool with screened enclosure

Pool Cage Restoration

When it comes to restorations like pool cage painting and rescreening, there are some important things you should know.

We discovered that over 5 years ago, performing tasks such as aluminum screen enclosure parts repainting, re-screening, and replacing fasteners can transform an old and poorly maintained screen enclosure to look brand new while also restoring its structural integrity.

This cost-effective alternative to repainting a screen enclosure has become a very popular service for us. Despite this, some people are still taken aback by our ability to provide it. Here are five important things you should know about this pool cage restoration service.

We can paint your pool enclosure.

It may come as a surprise, but screen enclosures can be repainted. Painting a pool enclosure is not a simple task of applying paint with a roller. The structure is exposed to various weather conditions, such as wind, rain, and sun, which makes it challenging for the paint to adhere to the metal surface.

We have been painting screen enclosures for more than 5 years and have successfully repainted several hundred pool cages. Only in 2022, we repainted over 5000 pool cages, perfecting our multi-step process that restores the enclosure’s original color and gives it a brand-new finish.

On average, the cost of restoring is 60-70% lower than the cost of replacing.

Restoring an enclosure, which involves re-screening, repainting, and replacing fasteners, generally costs 60-70% less than replacing the enclosure for most standard sizes. The outcome looks impressive, as demonstrated in this project with close-up photos. For very large enclosures, restoration is even more cost-effective. However, for small enclosures, the price difference between restoration and replacement may not be as significant.

It is necessary to replace the fasteners.

In the repainting process, we need to replace the fasteners as well. Our preferred choice for fasteners is 316 ss because of two reasons. Firstly, it restores the strength of the enclosure which is designed to sustain wind capacity based on the original strength of its components when it was built.

Typically, steel fasteners used on enclosures significantly lose strength within the first year, resulting in a decrease of over 80% in their capability to endure strong winds. Consequently, the enclosure cannot resist wind pressure as effectively as it initially could. Therefore, the replacement of fasteners is crucial to have wind resistance capacity as close to the engineering standards as possible.

Replacing the fasteners while we work will save you about 70%. Additionally, it’s necessary to replace the fasteners for a durable paint finish. Even stainless-steel fasteners will eventually rust, especially when they encounter dissimilar metals.

Using regular fasteners may cause rust to build up under the paint and affect the finish. To prevent this issue, we recommend using our 316 SS fastener, as it provides a long-lasting finish without the risk of rust.

Typically, it takes three days to complete the process.

Typically, it takes 3 days to complete the process of removing the old screen, painting, replacing fasteners, and installing the new screen on most enclosures. It is important to note that Southwest Florida experiences rainy and windy weather with frequent tropical thunderstorms during the summer season.

Although painting can be challenging under certain conditions, we are still able to paint many enclosures during the summer. However, due to our high standards, it may take a little longer to complete the pool cage restoration work. As a result, the timeline for completion may be extended, particularly for larger enclosures. The largest screen enclosure repaint we have ever done took three days to complete.
